I used Daytum to breakdown Derek Jeter’s 3000 hits.
How many singles? 2,222.
Chaz Frank helped send the Longhorns and their special shoes home from Omaha with a sweet catch in left and a double-play at first, a rare play.
God bless the Washington Nationals for trading Nyjer Morgan to the Brewers. Tony Plush now wears 2.
May 29th, 2011: Happy Anniversary Derek Jeter.
On May 29th, 1995 Derek Jeter made his career debut in Seattle, Washington. Sixteen years, five World Series, 2,979 hits, and 327 steals later he’s captain of one of the most respectable baseball franchises in history. Not only has he helped lead this team to success, but continues to maintain an honorable reputation. He has been and always will be an inspiration to many people across America.
Sixteen unbelievable years, and counting. Congratulations to Derek Jeter and all of his accomplishments throughout the years. I look forward to witnessing more of your record breaking career.
Roger that.
Tulo is standing all alone right now. Jeter has the rings and the market, but he’s dropping in the order and rising in years. Hanley Ramirez was probably the first or second pick in your fantasy baseball draft, but he’s not a household name (yet).
Tulo? 10-16, 4 HR, 8 RBI against the Mets. He’s the 2011 version of 1999 Chipper Jones—and this series is only the latest of his feats. He’s hit 22 HR in his last 40 games. That projects to an 89 HR season from a shortstop.
Mark Koenig was probably one of the first players ever to wear 2. That designation meant he hit second in the Murderer’s Row era Yankees’ lineup, right before Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, because uniform numbers corresponded to lineup position at that time.
Koenig played for four more teams, but only wore 2 for the Yanks.
Number 2 in your program, number 1 in our hearts.
